That is so odd that you still have some snow but you also have flowers. We haven't had any snow in the yard for weeks but we still do not have anything in bloom. I barely have the beginning of leaves. Strange huh? Especially considering there is only about 40 miles difference in our location.
The snow is in the shadow of our hill/boulder garden - it doesn't receive much sunlight, so the only reason it's even melting is the temperature.
The blooms on the squill are in the flower bed that is up against a brick wall that faces South - so it really warms up quickly.
The crocus are a different story - they are already up and ready to bloom - they are in the middle of my front yard and receive some sun from about noon to 4pm.
I don't know if you have ever heard of "Old House Gardens". They specialize in Heirloom bulbs. Squill are from 1796. I had seen them at the Henry Ford Estate (Dearborn) and stole one - took some time researching them and found them at Old House Gardens. I've never been to Old House Gardens but I get their emails and flyers. I think it is in Ann Arbor. I'll have to look up squill. You 'borrowed' a bulb from Henry Ford estate? Did you have to dig it up? LOL
R and I are thinking about making a run to the Henry Ford Museum before it warms up. I also saw on Freep.com that Pewebic is having some sort of show or exhibit going on right now.

If you go to "The Henry Ford" during the week, you must stop by the Henry Ford Estate during lunch. They have this really fantastic little restaurant in the pool area of the mansion and they serve very nice lunches. I used to go every chance I had. They are only open during the week and then only during lunchtime.
