Yes, it’s early, but last year, the third week of February, I noticed some bulbs starting to poke their little heads through the cold soil. So, no, it’s going to start soon!
I had put some bulbs in the refrigerator in the fall so that I could try forcing this year. According to my gardening book “The Dig-In Workbook”, the last week of January is the time to take them out of the fridge and “plant” them in a container, put them in a cool place and then the following week, put them in the living room and watch them bloom.
So, this week, that is my intention. I think I will have to bring my soil in from the garage, so that it can unfreeze, then by Friday or so, I can plant them.
