hydrangeas...

Is this one called a Mop-head?

What is the name of this one? First time it's grown flowers since we bought this place.

First one is a mop head. Second one is a lace cap.

My lace caps have bloomed a little bit, but my mop heads have yet to bloom. They are healthy and look good just no bblooms.

You are a wealth of information Jan, thanks again.

Mine were always looking healthy, but his was the first year that I was able to get 3 out of the 4 to bloom.

You know that the only way that they will bloom is if the new growth sprouts from the dead wood. Then you have a chance. If the new growth comes directly from the ground, you will have no blooms.

Well, baby sister, now I know why my one and only hydrangea never blooms! Sigh.

I know, that's a bummer about old wood.

I do have a bunch of hydrangeas that bloom on new wood but even though I love their blooms it is still not like the traditional hydrangeas.

Last year was bad for a lot of my plants. A lot of my roses died way back.

But my hostas keep going and going and going.
